achievements? community involvement?

i need a break! i wish i have all the time in the world to indulge in things that i love to do most now! have to hang on for 8 more months before FREEDOM!! we just received our common tests 2 timetable today! freaking early la! like as if we dont know that it will be held after june hols! why does the school have to stress us out so early! hah. it is always because of PROPAGATION OF FEAR that makes vjc produce good results i guess.

why must PEARLS system be abolished and be replaced by a testimonial!? i dont understand what is the reason for doing this since we will still be judged by our achievements and how much contributions we have to the community. abolishing the system does not make our lives as a student easier. in fact, most people will start worrying about the CONTENTS in their testimonials that they will start searching desperately for means to make their testimonials look better or perhaps, more COMPLETE than others. achievements in school, i should say, that many people will not be able to achieve much due to the INTENSE competition faced. and so, this creates a serious problem for most when they do not have many COMMENDABLE achievements to be reflected. hah. what more. the school is asking us for our TOP 3 ACHIEVEMENTS!? for example, most in musical groups, do you even consider performing in a concert an achievement at all? it is more like an enrichment kind of thing!
participating in competitions such as essay writing competitions, almost everyone who participate are good writers, do you even classify that under the BROAD CATEGORY of achievements even when you do not win anything?
this stupid testimonial thing is making me so frustrated!! why cant we just do community service out of PASSION? why cant we have the freedom to participate in competitions so that we will be able to gain knowledge and experience from it? why does everything that we do seem to revolve around POINTS, TESTIMONIALS and INCREASED PRESTIGE!!?? shouldnt we, students, be given a chance to do things out of OUR OWN WILL instead of being obliged by some MEASLY POINT SYSTEM? does it mean that a person who manage to serve 200 hours of community work has a better character than one who does it without any recognition? THIS SIMPLY DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! all the theory about moulding youths through a HOLISTIC EDUCATION huh? this is NOT PROVEN AT ALL because MOST students are doing things for the sake of their portfolios JUST to make themselves a person of a higher marketability. NO MUCH FEELINGS ATTACHED! this only PROVES ONE POINT! that is PEOPLE ARE PLAIN SELFISH! all the talk about being COMPASSIONATE! plus, our tutors are going to write about our character and stuff, hello! it's not a 100% FAIR JUDGEMENT! see it this way, how long do we get to spend time with our tutors and let them know us fully? CT session each week is INSUFFICIENT!

ok. enough complaints. it is time for us to start reflecting about our testimonials and search for organisations to volunteer in! SIGH!
